How Many Moving Boxes Do I Need?

Moving is exciting, and it’s a time that offers a fresh and new start. One of the best ways to ensure that you’re making the move easier is to make sure that you have enough boxes, and for you to pack effectively. Packing up takes some time and some work, but if you have boxes, tape for packing, along with bubble wrap, you’re already on the right path.

You’ll want to make sure as well that you’ve got the supplies that you need, but this can be hard to predict. Since you’re someone who needs to ensure that they have as many boxes as they can get to plan it, and you don’t want to go out of your way to get a billion boxes. Here are some tips to figure out the moving boxes that you need.

The rooms to Pack

This is ultimately what decides everything. Not every home has the same suggestions, but here are a few that are good as a beginning point.

Kitchen

The kitchen usually includes things of different sizes, and you should try to make sure that you have about five or so of this at least. The smaller boxes are good for cutlery, and the bigger boxes are good for pots, pans, kettles, and even your blender.

The living room

The living room is probably one of the most versatile locations in terms of boxes. If you’re looking to move a TV, you may want to consider a box to protect this, or even other boxes around it for protection. You’ll want to make sure that you have at least four of the medium, small, and large boxes, and two very large boxes to get an of the super huge items.

Dining Room

Not everyone has a dining room, but if you do, the main thing here is not big boxes, but boxes with protection. Anything that’ll protect the fine China and the like is what you want here. You should go for two boxes that are small, and two boxes that are medium for any of the dining room items.

Bedrooms

The bedrooms also vary based on size. For the master bedroom, you’re going to have a lot of items, so you’re going to need a lot of boxes that are usually able to hold onto clothes.  Six boxes for wardrobe items three smaller boxes, and six boxes that are medium sized along with eight boxes that are larger are usually pretty good for this.

For the other ones, this does vary, since it may depend on the type of person who is living in it. A newborn baby for example, may have less than say your teenage son who has a ton of games and such.

The key here is to use the same recommendations for your main bedroom, and make sure that you size this upwards and downwards as needed.

Bathroom

Finally the bathroom. This is going to have the least items possible, so you’re going to have to get a few boxes for this. Usually, small boxes or medium ones are the best for this If you’re someone who has a lot of items, you’ll want to also look to see if there is anything that you can possibly minimize and downsize too. You’ll notice as well that if you have less items, you’re better. Packing and moving is a challenge, but for a lot of people, with the right boxes, it makes everything a lot easier for you to use, and it can make it a better situation for those who are moving.
